Arrest Report, January 13, 2020

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 45 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Phillip Lathrop, 34, Montegut, LA, was arrested on January 10, 2020, at 6:39 pm for theft.

A transportation deputy made contact with Lathrop when he transported him to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center from another agency on an active warrant for theft. Lathrop was booked, incarcerated, and later released on a $1,500 bond.

 

Clarence Jackson, 69, 378 Prairie Road North, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 10, 2020, at 6:25 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 182 near Highway 3215 in Centerville when he observed a vehicle cross the center line multiple times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Jackson. Through the stop, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Jackson was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 1, 2020.

 

Nickolas James Morris II, 31, 115 Doris Street, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 10, 2020, at 7:18 pm for contractor fraud.

A deputy went to a residence on Percy Street in Amelia in reference to Morris, who held an active warrant through the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office. The deputy made contact with Morris, advised him of the active warrant, and transported him to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking.  Morris is being held for another agency.

 

Reginald Howard Layton, 40, 309 Rod Lane, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on January 10, 2020, at 8:19 pm on the following charges:

  • License plate lights required
  • Failure to signal
  • Stop signs and yield signs
  • Driving under suspension
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

A deputy was patrolling Rosebud Street in Baldwin when he observed a vehicle fail to give a signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Layton. Through the stop, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located and dispatch advised the deputy that Layton's license was suspended. Layton was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 1, 2020.

 

Darian Deon Mitchell, 22, 1502 Adrian Street, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on January 11, 2020, at 12:17 am for possession of marijuana, possession of CDS in the presence of a person under 17, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance.

A deputy was traveling on Main Street in Franklin when he observed a vehicle with no operable license plate lights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Mitchell, and a passenger. With the assistance of the Franklin Police Department, K9 Lena was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff and showed an odor response to the vehicle. Marijuana and a firearm that was reported as stolen were found. Mitchell was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking and was subsequently released on a $7,000 bond.

 

Vicente Morales-Lainez, 38, 3112 Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 11, 2020, at 2:18 am for domestic abuse battery.

A deputy was dispatched to the area of Lake Palourde Road near Solar Lane in Amelia in reference to a domestic abuse battery. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who stated that the victim had been struck by Morales. Morales was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Craig O'Neal Robinson, 32, 925 Cherry Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 10, 2020, at 5:20 pm for battery-aggravated second degree and theft.

A corrections deputy was called to an area of the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to assist another deputy. An inmate stated he had been struck with an object and a personal item was taken from him by Robinson. Robinson was placed into booking for the additional charges. 

 

Thomas Anthony Tabor, 58, 614 Cypress Street, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 11, 2020, at 2:46 pm for domestic abuse battery by strangulation, disturbing the peace by language, resisting arrest or officer, and on two warrants for failure to appear on the following charges:

  • distribution of marijuana
  • possession/distribution/sale of legend drug without a prescription
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • resisting an officer.  

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Mars Street in Bayou Vista in reference to a domestic abuse battery in progress. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who stated that Tabor had grabbed the victim by the neck.  During the investigation, dispatch advised the deputies that Tabor held active warrants for his arrest. Tabor was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Thomas Anthony Tabor, 58, 614 Cypress Street, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 11, 2020, at 7:00 pm on the following charges:

  • obscenity
  • resisting a police officer with force or violence
  • disarming of a police officer
  • battery on a police officer

A supervisor was contacted in reference to Tabor who had caused a disturbance at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Upon arrival, the supervisor made contact with corrections deputies who stated that Tabor had caused a disturbance and had attempted to disarm a deputy of his taser. Tabor was booked on the additional charges and remains incarcerated. No bail has been set.

 

Tre'lon Leon Colbert, 19, 1057 Moresi Road, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 10:21 pm for no taillights, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Martin Luther King Street in Baldwin when he observed a vehicle without an operable passenger-side taillight. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Colbert. Through the stop, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Colbert was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 1, 2020.

 

Angelina Marie Dapremont-Randle, 46, 104 Bennett Lane, Charenton, LA, was arrested on January 11, 2020, at 11:14 pm on two warrants for failure to appear on the following charges:

  • operating a vehicle while license is suspended/revoked/canceled
  • careless operation of a motor vehicle
  • operating a motor vehicle not covered by insurance
  • vehicle without required equipment or in unsafe condition
  • switched license plate
  • fail to honor written promise to appear

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on 8th street in Baldwin for improper lane usage. The deputy made contact with the driver, Dapremort-Randle, and dispatch advised the deputy that she held active warrants for her arrest. Dapremort-Randle was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Keith Anthony Davis, 35, 416 Robertson Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 1:16 am on a Franklin Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and speeding in a school zone.

A deputy was assisting another deputy on a traffic stop when he made contact with the passenger in the vehicle, Davis. Dispatch advised the deputy that Davis held an active warrant through the FPD. Davis was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking and is being held for another agency.

 

Christopher Lee Martin, 33, 3510 Second Street, Berwick, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 4:30 am for burglary-simple.

Deputies with the SMPSO along with officers of the Berwick Police Department went to a residence on Second Street in Berwick in reference to Martin, who held an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy made contact with Martin, advised him of the active warrant, and transported him to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Bricelon Lamon Martin, 23, 1211 Samuel Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 9:29 am on an MCPD warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy  went to a residence on Prairie Road North in reference to Martin, who held an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy made contact with Martin, advised him of the active warrant, and transported him to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking.  Martin was later transferred to another agency.

 

Letoric T. Brown, 20, 108 Kaylie Lane, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 2:45 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy was assisting with a traffic stop on Bollard Street in Baldwin. Through the stop, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Brown was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 1, 2020.

 

Claudia L. Alexander, 40, 433 Sorrell Road, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 7:08 pm for driving under suspension and license plate lights required.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 182 in Jeanerette when he observed a vehicle with no operable license plate lights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Alexander. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy that Alexander's license was suspended. Alexander was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 1, 2020.

 

Juvenile male, 16, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 12, 2020, at 7:22 pm for criminal damage to property-simple.

A deputy was following up on a complaint from December 23 in which a local business in Bayou Vista reported that a male suspect had damaged goods in the business. Through the investigation, the juvenile male was developed as the suspect and came to the Morgan City Branch Office to speak with deputies. The juvenile was arrested on the charge, processed, and released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

K9 DIVISION

Clara Michelle Drexler, 38, 1305 Railroad Avenue, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 10, 2020, at 1:15 pm for possession of marijuana, no proper equipment, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of improper turn and/or failure to give signal, operating a motor vehicle not covered by security, operating a vehicle while license is suspended/revoked/canceled, and possession of marijuana.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 182 West near Baldwin when he observed a vehicle with no license plate visible. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Drexler, and a passenger. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy that Drexler held an active warrant for her arrest. K9 Vickie was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff and showed a positive odor response on the vehicle. Marijuana was located in the vehicle. Drexler was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Drexler was later released on a $3,250 bond.
