Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of a Baldwin woman.

Deputies responded to a call at 12:31 am on Saturday morning, May 30. Deputies discovered that a woman, identified as Karlnita Marks, age 25, of Baldwin, had been shot and transported to a hospital. Ms. Marks later died as a result of the incident.

Detectives are investigating her death as a homicide. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
