St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith announces multi-agency cooperation leads to arrest of a suspect in theft cases.
Kevin William Veneralla, 40, 621 Sheldon Lane, Riverridge, LA, was arrested on August 13, 2020, at 2:33 pm for theft. Bail was set at $50,000.
Sheriff Blaise Smith announces that cooperation between multiple agencies locally in an investigation has led to the arrest of Kevin William Veneralla, 40, of Riverridge.
On May 3, a suspect came to Berwick and stole a side-by-side and a 4-wheeler ATV. Upon driving across the Highway 90 Atchafalaya River Bridge, one of the ATVs fell off the trailer and caused a crash.
On May 7, a boat was stolen from a business on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista.
Detectives with the SMPSO Investigations Section, Berwick Police Department, Morgan City Police Department, Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office cooperated which led to information and the developing of Veneralla as the suspect in several thefts in the area.
Veneralla was located at another agency and was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
"Knowing about the increase in burglaries that we have been experiencing in areas of our parish, I am confident not only in our abilities but with the abilities of the surrounding agencies working together with us and I believe those responsible will be arrested and brought to justice," said Sheriff Smith. "Remember, if you see something, say something."
