St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 29 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Jessie Engleton Jr., 49, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on December 21, 2020, at 7:44 pm on the following charges:

• Obstruction of public passage
• Texting while driving
• Open container
• Resisting arrest or officer
• Driving while intoxicated
• Possession of drug paraphernalia

Engleton held an active warrant for the following charges:

• Distribution of schedule II drug (meth)
• Possession of marijuana
• Possession of synthetic cannabis
• Improper lane usage

No bail has been set.
