St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 51 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Ervin Melancon, 53, Breaux Bridge, LA was arrested on May 9, 2021, at 8:05 pm for murder second-degree.

At approximately 2:30 pm, on Saturday, May 8, 2021, a call of a suspicious car came in to dispatchers at the SMPSO communications center. Deputies were dispatched to the car that was located near the Intracoastal Bridge on Highway 317.

Upon arrival, they found the deceased body of an infant inside the vehicle. Detectives were notified and through the investigation, Melancon was developed as the suspect. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.

 

On Sunday, May 9, 2021, Broussard Police Department made contact with Ervin and took him into custody. Melancon was subsequently transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

 

Bail has been set at $2,000,000.

 

 

Kenneth Ray Mayo, 52, Houma, LA, was arrested on May 7, 2021, at 9:47 pm on the following charges:

• Speeding
• No driver's license on person
• Possession of marijuana
• Open container
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Illegal use of CDS in presence of person under 17 years of age
• Possession of schedule II drug with intent to distribute

Mayo was released on a $12,000 bond.

 

Rachel Mary Scott, 48, Houma, LA, was arrested on May 7, 2021, at 9:47 pm on the following charges:

• Possession of marijuana
• Open container
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Illegal use of CDS in presence of person under 17 years of age

 

Bail was set at $12,000.

 

Vertress Lee Loston, 42, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 8, 2021, at 12:33 am on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property. Bail was set at $12,000.

 

Cedrick Benjamin Gant, 23, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 8, 2021, at 4:23 am for violation of protective orders. Gant was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Kurvontay Nigel Webb, 19, Patterson, LA was arrested on May 8, 2021, at 4:23 am for possession of marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon, and possession of a firearm in presence of a CDS. Webb was released on a $10,000 bond.

 

Seth Aurelius Kidder, 41, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 8, 2021, at 7:49 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of battery of a dating partner. Kidder was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Martin Ramirez-Lopez, 35, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 8, 2021, at 10:19 pm for open container and driving while intoxicated. No bail has been set.

 

Armand Joseph Thomas, 22, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on May 10, 2021, at 2:43 am on the following charges:

• Possession of marijuana
• General speed law
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Driving under suspension

Thomas was released on a summons to appear on August 25, 2021.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Cindy Parfait, 59, Houma, LA was arrested on May 8, 2021, at 8:52 am for failure to yield to emergency vehicles, possession of schedule I (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Parfait was released on a summons to appear on August 25, 2021.

Christopher Snowden, 21, Charenton, LA, was arrested on May 10, 2021, at 2:43 am on the following charges:

• Possession of schedule I with intent to distribute
• Transactions involving drug proceeds
• Possession of schedule V (promethazine) with the intent to distribute
• Possession of schedule II (hydrocodone)
• Possession of schedule IV (alprazolam)
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Possession of firearm in presence of CDS
• Illegal possession of stolen firearm

No bail has been set.
