St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 38 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Andreniki Franklin, 29, Baton Rouge was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 2:54 pm for second-degree murder and obstruction of justice-tampering.

Deputies responded to a call of a person injured/possible shooting at 12:31 am on Saturday morning, May 30, 2020. Deputies discovered that a woman, identified as Karlnita Marks, age 25, of Baldwin, had been shot and transported to a hospital. Ms. Marks later died as a result of the incident.

During the investigation, Franklin was developed as the suspect. In April 2021, the case went to the Grand Jury and an indictment was handed down.

On May 28, 2021, the LSP Fugitive Apprehension Unit and EBRSO Warrants Division made contact with Franklin at the Mallard Crossing Apartments in Baton Rouge. Franklin was arrested on a warrant for the charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice-tampering.

On June 3, 2021, corrections deputies transported Franklin to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Franklin was subsequently transported to the Morgan City Jail for incarceration.

Bail has been set at $600,000.

 

Gordon Moses, 39, New Orleans, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 7:00 pm for speeding and driving under suspension. Moses was released on a summons to appear on September 1, 2021.

 

Harry James Smith III, 28, Franklin, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 9:19 pm for careless operation and driver must be licensed. Smith was released on a summons to appear on September 1, 2021.

 

Charles Joseph Berger, 31, Pierre Part, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 10:15 pm for speeding. Berger was released on a summons to appear on September 1, 2021.

 

Jada Cook, 21, Houma, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 11:11 pm for possession of marijuana. Cook was released on a summons to appear on September 1, 2021.

 

Arthur Geraldo Welsh Jr., 26, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 11:11 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. No bail has been set.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Mason Carnley, 20, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 1:30 pm for speeding and possession of schedule I (marijuana). Carnley was released on a summons to appear on September 1, 2021.

Deondric Butler, 25, Franklin, LA, was arrested on June 3, 2021, at 11:57 am for possession of schedule I (marijuana) and possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor. Butler was released on a summons to appear on September 1, 2021.
