St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 125 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Stephanie Jean Farison, 30, Berwick, LA, was arrested on September 24, 2021, at 11:43 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set.

 

Michael Fleming, 60, Belle Rose, LA, was arrested on September 24, 2021, at 3:40 pm for stop signs/yield signs and no insurance. Fleming was released on a summons to appear on December 1, 2021.

 

Robert (Pecan) Parker, 40, Berwick, LA, was arrested on September 24, 2021, at 8:50 am on the following charges:

• Attempted first-degree murder
• Aggravated flight from officer
• Possession of marijuana
• Possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute
• Reckless operation with accident
• Illegal possession of stolen firearms
• Hit and run
• Obstruction of justice-aggravated

Parker also held three failure to appear warrants with the SMPSO on the following charges:

• Introduction of contraband-penal institution
• Possession of synthetic cannabinoids
• Aggravated assault with a firearm
• Possession of firearm by a convicted felon
• Resisting an officer
• Possession of marijuana
• Possession of schedule I (mdma)
• Illegal possession of weapons

On Friday, September 24, 2021, deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office were notified by the Berwick Police Department of a disturbance involving Robert Parker. Deputies were advised to be on the lookout for Parker, and knew that he held active warrants with the SMPSO.

Sometime later, deputies located Parker's vehicle on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, Parker refused to stop and continued westbound on Highway 90 at a high rate of speed.

After a short vehicle pursuit, Parker crashed his vehicle in Patterson. Upon exiting the vehicle, the subject, identified as Robert Parker, fired a shot at deputies as he fled the scene on foot.

Parker was located later and taken into custody. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set on the new charges (excluding the FTA warrants) at $500,000. Parker was subsequently transferred to another facility.

Roger Bernnorh Short Sr., 35, Gibson, LA, was arrested on September 25, 2021, at 12:33 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and improper signaling. Short was released on a summons to appear on November 4, 2021.

Katherine Lee Keiffer, 53, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on September 25, 2021, at 8:55 am for leash law. Keiffer was released on a summons to appear on December 1, 2021.

 

Ebony Ogwin, 43, Patterson, LA, was arrested on September 25, 2021, at 9:54 pm on the following charges:

• Maximum speed limit
• Driving while intoxicated
• Operating a vehicle under suspension
• Possession of cocaine
• Introduction of contraband-penal institution

Bail has not been set.

 

Lee Shawn Washington, 52, Lafayette, LA, was arrested on September 25, 2021, at 10:00 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail was set at $12,971.77.

 

Cheddrick Domond Roberson, 42, Franklin, LA, was arrested on September 26, 2021, at 12:02 pm for driving under suspension. Roberson was released on a summons to appear on December 1, 2021.

 

Juvenile Female, 14, Franklin, LA, was arrested on September 26, 2021, at 2:42 pm for ungovernable juvenile. The juvenile female was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

Heather Marie Gardner, 43, Monroe, LA, was arrested on September 26, 2021, at 4:08 pm on the following charges:

• Reckless operation no accident
• Driving under suspension
• Possession of stolen things
• Open container

Bail has not been set.

 

Walter Daniel Duarte Diaz, 22, Amelia, LA, was arrested on September 26, 2021, at 8:35 pm on the following charges:

• Open container
• Littering
• Driver must be licensed
• Driving while intoxicated

Bail was set at $4,000.

 

Bryan Cantrell Hamilton Jr., 21, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on September 26, 2021, at 8:50 pm for stop signs/yield signs and possession of marijuana. Hamilton was released on a summons to appear on December 1, 2021.

 

Roxanne Provost, 52, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on September 26, 2021, at 9:17 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of more than $1,000 but less than $5,000. No bail has been set.
