St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 29 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Eddie Caldwell, 59, Raceland, LA, was arrested on March 29, 2022, at 1:50 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft under $1,000. Bail has not been set.

 

Jonathan Douglas Franklin Sr., 34, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on March 29, 2022, at 10:06 pm for sexual battery and obscenity. Franklin continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Eric Charles, 31, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on March 30, 2022, at 12:07 am on the following charges:

• Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
• Possession of schedule I (marijuana)
• Possession of schedule I (heroin)
• Obstruction of justice
• Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of alprazolam and possession of marijuana

Bail was set at $50,000.
