Arrest Report- April 1, 2022

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 35 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Juvenile Male, 17, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on March 31, 2022, at 10:40 am for disturbing the peace by fighting/simple assault. The juvenile male was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

Jason Jermaine Matthews, 40, Amelia, LA, was arrested on April 1, 2022, at 12:28 am on the following charges:

  • Brake lights required
  • Driver must be licensed
  • No insurance
  • Expired or no inspection sticker
  • Failure to appear warrant: criminal neglect of family
  • Failure to appear warrant: unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and operating a vehicle without a driver's license

Bail has not been set.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION


Charlie Kelly, 43, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on March 31, 2022, at 10:56 am on the following charges:

  • Possession of schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of schedule II (cocaine) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of schedule IV (xanax) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of schedule I (synthetic marijuana) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of schedule I (MDMA)
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS
  • Transactions involving drug proceeds
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Section traveled to a residence on Sunset Avenue in Bayou Vista to execute a search warrant. As a result, the following items were seized:

  • MDMA pills
  • Xanax pills
  • 28 g. Cocaine
  • 55 g. Synthetic Marijuana
  • 41.6 g. Marijuana
  • $11,122 Cash
  • Highpoint .380
  • 2013 Cadillac vehicle

Kelly was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Kelly was later released on a $150,000 bond.
