On Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, Marine Section deputies were dispatched to a call of a body in the water approximately 5 miles south of Berwick.

The Marine Deputies arrived at the location and recovered the body of an unidentified female.

SMPSO detectives opened an investigation and identified the woman as Monique Barrilleaux, 38, of Morgan City.

There are no obvious signs of foul play at this time. The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when it becomes available.
