Sheriff Blaise Smith and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed that a person was shot at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin, shortly before 9:00 am this morning. The person was transported to a medical facility by ambulance.

The Louisiana State Police has been asked to investigate the incident. Further details will come from the LSP later today.
