St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 48-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 50 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Devin Fabian Metrejean, 30, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on May 11, 2023, at 7:20 pm on a warrant for attempted second-degree murder.

Bonnie Claar Tallada, 29, Patterson, LA, was arrested on May 11, 2023, at 7:20 pm on a warrant for attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office detective was assigned to continue the investigation into a child abuse case. A 9-month-old infant was hospitalized with forcible injuries.

Through the investigation, Bonnie Tallada, mother of the child, and Devin Metrejean, Tallada's boyfriend, were developed as suspects in the case. As the case progressed, evidence was obtained showing that Tallada had taken actions to obstruct the progress of the case.

Warrants were obtained for both Metrejean and Tallada.

On Thursday, May 11, 2023, contact was made with both Metrejean and Tallada, and they were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $150,000 for Metrejean. Bail has not been set at this time for Tallada.

 

Felton Charles, 70, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on May 11, 2023, at 7:20 pm on a warrant for battery-simple. Charles was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Shane Steven Gibson, 25, Franklin, LA, was arrested on May 10, 2023, at 6:19 pm for illegal carrying of a weapon. Bail was set at $5,000.

 

Felton Charles, 70, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on May 11, 2023, at 7:20 pm on a warrant for battery-simple. Charles was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
