St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell Announces Arrest of Former Corrections Deputy

Malayie Myon McBride, 20, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on June 6, 2024, at 1:39 pm for possession of contraband-penal institution, malfeasance in office, and malfeasance in office-sexual conduct.

A detective at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center obtained information regarding possible contraband that was brought into the jail. Through the investigation, it was learned that a corrections deputy, Malayie McBride, had brought a phone into the SMPLEC and phone calls of a sexual nature were also made with an inmate. A warrant was obtained for McBride.

On June 6, 2024, contact was made with McBride and she was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has not yet been set.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
