Suspected Homemade Explosive Devices Located in Amelia- Scene Secured

This afternoon, deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office located several suspected homemade explosive devices while working an active case in the area of the storage facility at the Amelia Bridge.

Upon discovery, deputies immediately secured the devices and contacted residents in the affected vicinity to ensure their safety. The area has been quartered off and remains secured as a precautionary measure. At this time, there is no danger to the public.

The Louisiana State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms have been notified and are currently en route to safely assess and dispose of the devices.

Deputies will maintain scene security until the devices are rendered safe and the investigation continues.

Citizens are advised to avoid the area to allow authorities to safely conduct operations.
