Arrest Report- January 26, 2026

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 118 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Jose Antonio Martinez, 18, Charenton, LA, was arrested on January 24, 2026, at 1:45 am on the following charges: 

  • Illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at approximately 6:20 pm, patrol deputies and detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a report of gunshots fired in the Sorrell area.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that an individual had been transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

As the investigation continued, detectives made contact at the hospital with a 21-year-old male who was being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Detectives also interviewed an 18-year-old male, identified as Martinez, who transported the victim to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

Following the interview and the collection of evidence related to his alleged involvement, Martinez was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.  Martinez was released on a $50,000 bond.

Cody Paul Pearce, 37, Berwick, LA, was arrested on January 24, 2026, at 1:45 am on the following charges: 

  • Illegal possession of a firearm by convicted felon
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Theft
  • Escape-simple & aggravated
  • Battery on a police officer
  • Resisting a police officer with force or violence

Jonathan Paul Theriot, 41, Berwick, LA, was arrested on January 24, 2026, at 10:43 pm for illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On Saturday evening, January 24, 2026, shortly before midnight, deputies and Marine Patrol deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, as well as wildlife agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries responded to a disturbance at a camp involving a firearm. 

After an investigation, two men identified as Pearce and Theriot were arrested and transported by boat to Wilson's Landing.

While transitioning custody from the boat to a patrol unit at Wilson's Landing, Pearce fled from deputies on foot. Despite search efforts, deputies were not able to locate him at that time. Theriot was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, deputies continued the investigation and search for Pearce. During the course of the day, deputies developed additional information and received anonymous tips indicating Pearce was possibly staying at a motel in Morgan City. Deputies applied for and were granted a search warrant for the location and requested assistance from the Morgan City Police Department.

After conducting a joint briefing, deputies and MCPD officers served the warrant at the room, and made contact with Pearce.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Morgan City Jail to be booked as a fugitive and later transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for incarceration. 

Bail has not been set at this time.

 

Jardyn Ray Matthiaus McCoy, 24, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 24, 2026, at 4:16 pm on a warrant for failure to appear for receiving stolen property, theft, and possession of criminal tools. Bail has not been set at this time.
