St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell advises that over the last 24- hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 40 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Reginald Thomas, 59, Franklin, LA, was arrested on July 15, 2026, at 10:44 am on a warrant for theft of $5,000 but less than $25,000.

On May 5, 2026, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Jones Road in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, he spoke to the complainant who stated that Thomas had sold them a mobile home in January 2026, and they had made payment.  Later, Thomas informed them that he had sold the mobile home to another party and no longer had possession of it.

After agreeing to refund the money, Thomas never followed through and refunded the money to the complainant.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to establish a timeline of the business transaction, requests for the refund, and the lack of restitution being made by Thomas. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On July 15, 2026, patrol deputies made contact with Thomas and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Thomas was released on a $18,000 bond.
