St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell advises that over the last 72- hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 184 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Yllefrem Estuardo Zamora-Solis, 20, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on July 3, 2026, at 7:00 pm for cruelty to animals and leash law.

On Friday, July 3, 2026, a deputy responded to the area of Lambert Lane in Bayou Vista regarding a report of a dog running loose in the roadway. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke to a person who stated the dog is out frequently and has almost been hit by a vehicle.

The deputy located the dog at a residence on Venus Street where the deputy saw that it nearly was struck by a passing vehicle. When attempting to catch the dog, it ran underneath a trailer. Dispatch advised that animal control was en route to assist.

Deputies reviewed the notes from a previous complaint at the same residence for the dog. Animal control subsequently took possession of the dog and the deputies went to Zamora-Solis' residence and made contact with him.

The deputies learned that he had no vet records due to not taking the dog to the vet. Based on the dog's observed poor physical condition and evidence suggesting the dog not not been properly cared for, Zamora-Solis was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Bail has not been set at this time.
