Bayou Vista Stabbing Suspect Taken Into Custody

Amiya Peveto, 17, Patterson, LA, was arrested on November 28, 2025, at 3:30 am on a warrant for the charges of attempted 2nd degree murder, criminal trespassing, and possession of marijuana.
On November 27, 2025, a detective was called out to a local medical facility in reference to a stabbing that occurred on Cane Road in Bayou Vista.
Upon arrival, the detective made contact with a victim who had laceration wounds. The detective began an investigation and learned that the suspect had come to a residence, and a confrontation between the suspect and the victim had occurred. During the incident, the victim received the lacerations from what was believed to be a knife.
Through the investigation, Amiya Peveto was developed as the suspect, and a BOLO was sent out to the Patterson Police Department, who subsequently located the vehicle. A Deputy made contact with Peveto and detained her.
As the investigation progressed, Peveto was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has not been set at this time.
