SMPSO Investigating Saturday Evening Shooting in Ashton Area

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on Saturday evening, April 25, 2026, in the Ashton community.

At approximately 5:00 PM, SMPSO dispatch received multiple calls reporting gunfire on Gibbs Road. Uniformed patrol deputies arrived on the scene and determined that a 17-year-old male had been struck by gunfire. The victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment; his injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

SMPSO detectives were immediately deployed to the scene and have assumed the lead on the investigation.

Investigators are searching for a dark-colored SUV and its driver, as the vehicle may have been involved in the incident.
