Arrest of Wanted Fugitive in Patterson

Lester Janard Broussard, 34, Carencro, LA, was arrested on October 15, 2025, at 4:08 pm on two Lafayette Police Department warrants for the following charges: 

•    Distribution/possession with intent to distribute (Heroin)
•    Distribution/possession with intent to distribute Sch. II CDS (Hydrocodone)
•    Clandestine lab
•    Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
•    Illegal carrying of weapons
•    Illegal possession of stolen things
•    Obstruction of justice

Sydni Lafay Henry, 23, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on October 15, 2025, at 2:19 pm for resisting arrest or officer.

On October 15, 2025, deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office assisted the U.S. Marshal's Office in an operation to apprehend a wanted subject believed to be located at a residence in Patterson.


Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a female at the residence, identified as Sydni Lafay Henry, 23, of New Iberia, Louisiana. Henry was detained while the investigation progressed. Deputies confirmed that the wanted subject, Lester Janard Broussard, 34, of Carencro, Louisiana, was still inside the residence.

The Integrated Special Response Team (ISRT), consisting of personnel from the SMPSO and the MCPD, was deployed to assist in the apprehension.


While detained, Henry became physically non-compliant. She was arrested and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the charge of resisting arrest or officer.


ISRT Negotiators and Operators attempts to establish communication with Broussard were initially unsuccessful, but he subsequently responded to verbal commands and was compliant. He was taken into custody by ISRT operators without incident.


Broussard was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and is being held for the Lafayette Police Department.
