Arrest Report- September 3, 2026
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 50 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Johnathan Decal Gray, 20, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 9:06 pm on the following charges:
- Robbery-armed
- Illegal possession of a firearm
- Resisting arrest or officer
- Probation violation
James Vincent Howell II, 21, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 10:27 pm on the following charges:
- Robbery-armed
- Illegal possession of a firearm
- Resisting arrest or officer
- Escape-simple and aggravated
- Probation violation
Keon Ameud Carbin, 22, Berwick, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 9:34 pm on the following charges:
- Robbery-armed
- Illegal possession of a firearm
- Criminal trespass
- Resisting arrest or officer
- Possession of schedule I drugs
- Introduction of contraband-penal institution
- Probation violation
On September 2, 2026, the SMPSO was notified of a vehicle pursuit initiated by the Morgan City Police Department. The pursuit stemmed from a robbery in which a victim was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Siracusa Recreation Department.
The vehicle, occupied by the three suspects, continued into Bayou Vista where the driver crashed into a mailbox on Middle Road. The suspects fled on foot in the surrounding residential area and a nearby sugarcane field.
Out of an abundance of caution, School Resource Officers put the local elementary school on lockdown and secured the area as SMPSO deputies, detectives, MCPD officers, BPD officers, and Morgan City Marshal's Office deputies all convened in the search.
In a very short time, Grey, Carbin, and Howell were located in the area and detained. They were brought in for questioning and booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail has not been set at this time.
Sheriff Gary Driskell stated that consistent training was the key to the operation's success in the midst of a chaotic scene.
"We all train the same way, and when an incident like this happens, it is good to see everyone instantly do what they are trained to do in their respective areas of responsibility, and see things happen so smoothly."
Sheriff Gary Driskell and the SMPSO deputies would like to thank the Morgan City Police Department, Berwick Police Department, the Morgan City Marshal's Office, and members of the public for their assistance in this incident.
Roberto Guajuardo Quintanilla, 49, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on September 3, 2026, at 1:45 am on the following charges:
- Driving while intoxicated
- Improper lane usage
- Driving under suspension
- Open container
- Resisting arrest or officer
Bail has not been set at this time.
Tanya Nicole Grogan, 50, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 4:11 pm on two warrants for failure to appear on the following charges:
- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
- Careless operation of a vehicle
- Improper child restraint
- Possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles
- Operating a vehicle with an expired driver's license
- Failure to appear as a witness
Bail has not been set at this time.
John Wesley Menser, 47, Patterson, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 10:57 am for violation of protective orders. Menser was released on a $2,500 bond.
Joseph Paul Demarco, 61, Franklin, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 10:13 am on two warrants for failure to appear on the following charges:
- No seat belt
- Proper equipment required on vehicles
- Switched license plate/stolen license plate
- Driving under suspension
- No insurance
- 2 active Franklin Police Department warrants
Bail has not been set at this time.
NARCOTICS SECTION
Jerry Charles Jr., 61, Patterson, LA, was arrested on September 2, 2026, at 11:48 am on the following charges:
- Possession of schedule I CDS with intent to distribute (synthetic)
- Possession of schedule I CDS with intent to distribute (marijuana)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Transactions involving drug offenses
SMPSO Narcotics detectives investigating the selling of illegal narcotics obtained an arrest warrant for Jerry Charles, and a search warrant for a residence on Mike Drive in Patterson.
On September 2, 2026, detectives served the search warrant on the residence and through the search seized a pistol, $2,600 in cash, drug paraphernalia, 1.78 pounds of marijuana, hydrocodone pills, 300 g. of oxycodone pills, and 32.25 lbs. of synthetic marijuana.
Charles was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail hs not been set at this time.
